Ryan Lien

I'm a junior at Northwestern majoring in Comparative Literary Studies and Theatre (concentrating in Management and Playwriting) with minors in Business Institutions and Legal Studies. Through my academic pursuits, I have explored how language impacts the world, how context shapes meaning, and how organization drives change.

On campus, I serve as a school senator, producer of student theatre, and incoming Student Staff Development Manager at Norris University Center. Off campus, I have extensive experience in theatre education. I thrive on building community and amplifying voices, helping others find ways to make life better.

Advocacy is deeply important to me as a Type 1 diabetic. I would not be where I am today without those who empowered me to speak up for myself and secure the accommodations I need for my invisible disability.

Looking ahead, I intend to bring my reasoning and writing skills to law school, where I can apply my passions for public service, negotiating towards compromise, and creative problem-solving to a career in law.
